GKN, an aerospace supplier based in the United Kingdom, announced they will open a facility for final assembly and painting of 737 MAX winglets in Sumner, Washington. Proximity to the Boeing Renton plant and access to customized training for new employees were key factors in opening the facility. GKN joins over 1,350 aerospace companies in Washington’s end-to-end aerospace supply chain. In Washington State, these companies are able to draw from the highest concentration of skilled aerospace workers in the U.S.
The business experts with the Washington State Department of Commerce assist companies who are in high growth mode and looking to expand operations. They can help with site selection, identify logistical and workforce training needs, and provide expertise on financing projects that will employ Washington workers.
